Well done!
Didn't time fly? Would love to catch up and hopefully introduce you to our new little guy, Luca, whose 11 weeks now! Call me, Julz! Let's do something. xx

Cuba [From: Rachael Elliott]

Hi guys

I checked my Cuba photos out to come up with some hints as requested by you Juliet. These hints are based on our chicks tour of 2000! Its kinda hard to reccomend things as our holiday was dominated by dancing lessons and socialising with the families we stayed with and the lovely men we met! It wasnt a couples holiday! We were also helped by Pippa's fluent Spainish and mine not so bad Spanish.

Anyway here goes:

In Havana we stayed two nights at this gorgeous hotel - called Hotel Valencia - right in the heart of the old city - really good. I wont reccomend the casa we stayed in after that as it was OK but you will probably find better. The Cigar factory tour is good. All the Hemingway bars are good but pricey

Cienfuegos was a nice stop after the madness of Havana but I dont think there is much to do there - that was where Pippa fell in love and got engaged so our time was spent meeting Nelson's family etc, dancing at Beny More nightclub.

Trindidad is an excellent place - beautiful cruisy historic town where you can cycle out to great beaches. We stayed in the nicest casa - Hostal Isabel Christina, Prada Bequer, Fernando Hernandez Echerri no. 31, esquina PAtricio Lumumba Tel 93054.

Remember when you do the home stays ask them to cook breakfast and dinner for you - the food is so much better than street food.

Santiago was good and Baracoa (right down the bottom) was excellent - cruisy town where you can go out on this great river - rio yumuri and cycle and walk in Campismo del Yunque - good swimming holes. We stayed in a wodnerful casa - Casa Lucy - Calle Cespedes no. 29 Maceo y Ruber Lopez tel 53 021 4 3548 - she is a great cook and up with the play with tourism. Get the people you are staying with in the town before to ring and book the next place. Then we went back to Havana with a brief stop in Santa Clara and went north to Vinales which was good - tropical landscape - quite country, you can do horserdies to tobacco farms etc.

Let me know how you go. Buenas Suerte! xx

Same neck of the Woods [From: Richard John]

Hi Guys,

Well we are in St Lucia for a couple of weeks I was reading the Panama stuff and after I stopped laughing I thought I'd better drop you a line........Glad you are enjoying the region when you get to Cuba try hiring some bikes great way of seeing the place.....P.S. my Great Grand Father helped build that Canal.......

no guetemala-es guete-buena!
